The second generation of
BMW 116i F20 LCI gets its midlife refinements where both body style and mechanical modifications are made to the 116i and the entire 1-series.
What’s new?
As it has received both body refinements and mechanical modifications, let’s talk about the body refinements first, it has received a chiselled and sharp front end with a reshaped grille and larger air intakes for extra air delivery to the engine.
New 116i has flatter headlamps with daytime running LED lights and redesigned rear lights. Wheel arches are slightly more flared, however interior also has several styling cues.
Interior changes
The 116i interior gets a redesigned central console, new leather on the seats and some optional seat technologies.
There is an automatic air-conditioning system with fully adjustable steering wheel and rain sensors. The all new 116i infotainment system has a radio professional with six speakers and AUX input. All these features can be controlled from a 6.5 inch
iDrive infotainment system however there is a massive list of optional kits.
BMW 116i engines
Mechanically, this hatch series comes with an updated engine line-up, including 3-cylinder engines, eight-speed automatic transmissions and new drive assistance systems.
The all new
116i F20 engine has 3-cylinders, which is capable of generating 107bhp from its 1499cc engine. It has a hefty torque of 133lb-ft that helps the car to sprint on the road with more power and can overtake the motorway traffic very easily. It is a relatively refined engine with 116g/km of carbon emissions. With 10.9 seconds to get 62 miles per hour on the odometer it has the top speed of 121 miles per hour and the fuel economy of 56 miles per gallon.
