BMW X3 has Arrived with Diesel Engines & Styling Tweaks
- February 17, 2014
BMW is famous for its very efficient crossover range and has a great influence over the CUV market, having sold almost a million units worldwide of only X3 which first went on sale in 2003 and there is no need to mention all of the momentum it had with X5 in recent years. BMW is gearing up to introduce the refreshed version of X3 at Chicago Auto Show starting from the first week of February 2014. The all new X3 is featuring an improved design with various styling tweaks and most importantly a diesel engine option for the first time, while a rear wheel drive variation will also be on hand this time. The prime news about the X3 is the introduction of new xDrive28d technology with 2.0 litres turbocharged engine from BMW’s most sophisticated 4-cylinder engine line-up. It is a very capable BMW X3 diesel engine that can produce 180 horsepower and 280lb-ft of torque. The X3’s transmission comprises of an eight speed automatic box. BMW declares that it will hit 60 miles per hour from dead stand position in just under eight seconds. The X3 is getting some striking improvements to the exterior. Previously twin circular headlights are now extended to feel the little widened, grille is also refreshed with chrome kidney look to bring the same kind of styling as of the 3-Series and 4-Series. There are several optional tweaks also available such as LED headlights. The bumpers are also highly refined with reshaped brake cooling ducts in the front and additional metal trims at the bottom of the rear bumper. Side mirrors are exclusively equipped with standard LED turn signals. BMW has improved the interior with extra chrome trim, the centre console is refined by high gloss black trim, the cup holder covers are also similarly treated and new interior upholstery designs are refreshed. The X3 is also getting a major boost in optional technology with a new Parking Assistant, an Active Driving Assistant with adaptive cruise control, Lane Departure Warning system, and several warning systems such as Frontal Collision Warning, Pedestrian Warning, and City Collision Mitigation.
